Second Interview with Matt Mitchell

Matt and I discussed around animals experiencing abuse from men more than women, and went into a bit more psychology backing this natural (or innate) behaviour from humans. I realised that targeting children as my audience is more complicated than I expected. Also, we talked about my observations from last Sunday's meeting. I was able to observe Matt interact with kids and how effective his approach was in educating them with animals. I thought the way they were taught was not as effective as I expected. Matt explained that because it was a "birthday party" it was not really aimed to educate kids but to let them have fun and spend time with animals.

My initial breakdown of information was:
environment, diet, health, companion, behaviour, help & support

Matt suggested however that I do:
diet, social, environment, health, mental/emotional
(social focusing on positives)
(mental/emotional focusing on negatives)

Matt also suggested that I focus on the minimum time required for taking care of these animals, generally depending on their breed but also special circumstances wherein people are most likely to encounter when adopting. He also suggested I get into the general idea of rabbits being prey animals and would help my audience in better understanding their needs when they understand the reason for their general behaviour.

Dividing my target audience age group was suggested as well, having different approaches for two different age groups.

Having a consistent education building up for a whole semester could be more effective than just one-off programmes makes these information more relevant. Maybe even have discussion topics with parents when children come home from school thus, bridging the education from teachers to children being able to communicate what they learn and could potentially be able to persuade their parents decisions as well.

Maybe look into Montessori's educational model built around the individuals  and what they need.
